The model 865 was one of many firearms H&R sold in canada sometime under the u.s. as zeke says there are some variations so you need to look closely at it when ordering parts, especially the magazine. Well i am not canadian but, the H&R model 865 was a mainstay of H&R 22 bolt action repeater for many many years. BTW, Winchester imported a series of rifles from Canada.the "Cooey" name.I don't know this for sure, but I suspect that H&R did the same with the 865.maybe one of our Canadian friends knows.anybody? Prior to that it was an elective process. When the Gun Control Act of 1968 became the law of the land, then serial numbers became mandatory and ALL RECIEVERS had to be marked with a unique serial number. The H&R Model 865 was introduced in 1949 and dropped from production in 1985.
