The Avatar State kept him alive, albeit not fully conscious, in the iceberg for about a hundred years while the war raged on.Īs far as him not being able to marry and have children: This may have been more to do with the time Aang was growing up and less to do with the "code of the avatar", after all, previous avatars had been allowed to have relationships, especially in times of lasting peace ( avatar Kuruk is an example), but the Air Nomads knew about the coming war (the reason they began training Aang and telling he was the Avatar at a younger age was to prepare him for the coming war), and thus wanted Aang to focus on his training. Aang saved himself and Appa while semi-consciously entering the Avatar State, freezing the two in a sphere of ice by using a combination of airbending and waterbending. Shortly after running away, Aang and Appa were caught in a storm, crashing in the water and being swallowed by the waves. However, soon after learning that he would be sent to the Eastern Air Temple in order to complete his airbending training far away from Monk Gyatso, who other monks thought was too soft on him, Aang attempted to run away on his flying bison Appa. I give the show an easy 10/10, especially if you watch all the shows in order.According to the wiki entry on Aang, he actually ran away because he was going to be sent to Eastern Air temple to complete his training: The character development and writing can match even some of the best television writers out there, it may even be able to stand toe-to-toe with the works of Joss Whedon. I wouldn't doubt that the next 3 seasons are already written. The show itself is also planned out, as minor questions formed in one episode may not be answered for another 10 some episodes later, so it's not just another Nick "story" show like Danny Phantom, all episodes are connected and well planned out. The bending styles all coincide with different styles of fighting and can be seen in every episode.
The research put into the story is amazing. It's good to know that children that watch this show may actually learn what it takes to have a good story.
Not since Samauri Jack has an American show been able to pull off an anime style that works. This show is what Nickelodeon needs to give it some respect. The art and research put into this story matches the quality of the plot and character development.
